Packers Announce 2010 Schedule

The Packers 2010 schedule has been finalized and includes 43 games and two tournaments.
Thirty-six California Collegiate League games will be played while the Packers look to improve upon their fourth place finish last year.  Seven non-league games will be played against the Santa Maria Pilots (3), California Wahoos (3), and Orange County Pioneers (1).  The Packers will defend its California Cup Championship from last year in the Santa Barbara Foresters Tournament in July.  The San Luis Obispo Blues will host a tournament at the end of the season on August 2 - 8, 2010.

Packers preparing for upcoming season

The Santa Maria Valley Packers will be in their 3rd year for the 2010 season.  Currently the roster and schedule are being confirmed for another exciting season at Elks Field.  Competition within the California Collegiate League has been strengthened with the addition of two teams, San Luis Obispo Blues and Las Vegas Baseball Club.  Additional games will be played against the Santa Maria Pilots, California Wahoos, and Orange County Pioneers.  The Packers will also defend their California Cup title, a tournament hosted by the Santa Barbara Foresters.  There will be three players that are returning for another season, Chris Mallory, Russell Havens, and Ryan Plum.  Currently the Packers have confirmed two players that have been previously drafted by MLB teams, Robby Ross and Andrew Darwin.

The Packers are also proud to help aid the Santa Maria Pilots for their second season.  The Pilots had a successful inaugural season last year and the upcoming season appears to be the same.  Current, past, and present players from Allan Hancock College will comprise the Pilots and will play a competitive schedule.  The Pilots will open their season June 5th, 2010 against the East LA Dodgers and will play the Packers in a three game series starting on June 8, 2010.

Packers seek volunteers

If you are interested in getting involved with one on California's premier collegiate baseball organizations then the Packers welcome you with open arms.  The Packers are currently seeking volunteers to help with the 2010 season, for both the Packers and Pilots teams.  Duties vary from selling tickets, fundraising, merchandising, and BBQing.  Any amount of time and effort that you can provide will be greatly appreciated and will help with conducting another exciting season.  Please contact Scott Nickason at 805-878-0242 or packersbaseball@hotmail.com if you are interested in volunteering for the 2010 season.
